A beach-themed bedroom can instantly transport you to a coastal paradise. This particular bedroom stands out from the rest of the house, as it was designed to reflect the client’s love for the beach very specific about the color scheme wanted, and we embraced two main tones: sand and ocean sky. We incorporated these shades in every element of the room, including the walls, wardrobe, and ceiling, ensuring a cohesive and relaxing ambiance.
The Planning Process
The layout of this bedroom was slightly restricted by the existing structure, but we made the most of the space available. The bed is placed on the entrance wall, which has windows on both the opposite sides. Given the limited space on the other walls, this was the best position for the bed. To maintain a light and airy feel, we went for a sleek floating bed with floating side tables. This design choice ensures that the room doesn’t feel cramped when you enter.
Wardrobe and Storage
The wardrobe design is another highlight of the room. We opted for PU-coated MDF painted in a custom color selected by Pavan. The intricate CNC-cut grooves give it a stunning visual appeal, and to break the monotony of the single color tone, we included an open unit in the center with Brazilian sandstone. This balanced the room’s aesthetic, providing functional storage while maintaining a relaxed, beachy vibe. The wardrobe doors feature handles made of MDF, designed for a smooth, seamless look.
Curtains and Lighting
For the curtains, we used velvet fabric in shades that complement the sand and ocean sky theme. The dual-track system allows for easy opening and closing while hiding the tracks within a pelmet. These curtains bring in just the right amount of natural light and privacy. Additionally, the large windows offer a beautiful view of the garden outside, making the room feel even more connected to nature.
Mirrors and Reflection
Mirrors are always a great addition to any room, and in this case, we used a full-length mirror that doesn’t reflect the bed while sleeping. This thoughtful placement ensures the mirror doesn’t disturb the room’s tranquility. The mirror frame also follows the blue color scheme to maintain the room’s consistent theme.
Unique Materials and Finishes
We used a variety of materials to bring the room to life. The wardrobe doors are made from MDF with a high-quality finish to ensure durability and a smooth surface. For the bed, we used plywood for the frame and MDF for support behind the glass elements. The careful selection of materials ensures a luxurious and long-lasting design.
Color Continuity
One of the key design principles we followed was maintaining color continuity throughout the room. Every element, from the bed linens to the decor items, followed the sand and ocean sky color palette, creating a harmonious and cohesive look. Pavan was very particular about keeping this consistency, which has paid off in the final result. Even the artwork and decor items tie into the overall color scheme, ensuring that the room feels like a well-curated space.
Final Thoughts
Designing a room based on a specific theme, such as the beach, requires careful attention to detail and a consistent design language. From the floating bed and custom wardrobe to the velvet curtains and carefully chosen materials, this room is a perfect blend of comfort, functionality, and style. The thoughtful use of colors and materials has resulted in a serene, inviting space that feels like a beach retreat. If you’re inspired by this beach-themed bedroom.
