Introduction:
Design Vision:
The family’s primary request was to create a space that honored CP Rouser’s illustrious career and showcased his many accomplishments. The heart of the design is a striking achievement wall, which proudly displays awards and momentos, offering a glimpse into his journey. The family also wanted to incorporate some antique furniture, including a sofa that holds sentimental value, and a collection of paintings that reflect their taste and history.
Creating a Statement Wall:
The most prominent feature in the living room is the achievement wall. Designed to create an impactful statement, it displays accolades and treasured items, ensuring they are prominently showcased. Every element, from the wall to the furniture, was carefully curated to integrate seamlessly with the family’s vision.
Lighting and Ceiling Design:
Given the existing furniture and the family’s preference to keep it, the design team opted for a minimalistic approach in lighting to ensure the room didn’t feel overcrowded. For the ceiling, PVC planks were chosen for their sleek, joint-free finish, offering both elegance and cost-efficiency. Soft downlights were added, creating a cozy, inviting ambiance without overpowering the space. Additionally, cabinet lighting was strategically placed to highlight the furniture.
Wooden Touches and Textural Continuity:
Wooden elements were integrated throughout the design to give the home a warm, earthy feel. The pelmet, which runs across the room, was extended to create a continuous wooden beam structure. This feature ties together the room’s design and adds to the overall aesthetic, maintaining a connection between all the elements of the space.
Functional and Stylish Furniture:
The furniture was crafted with functionality and design in mind. A beautiful, CNC-carved veneer panel was used to create a refined and sophisticated look. The carpentry team paid special attention to detail, making sure the panels fit perfectly and the soft-close hinges function smoothly. This design approach not only created a beautiful display space but ensured the room was both practical and durable.
Material Selection:
To achieve the desired look while maintaining cost-efficiency, BWP grade plywood was used as the core material, with a rich veneer finish to provide texture and elegance. The design incorporated glass panels and wooden inserts, carefully planned to ensure they looked aesthetically pleasing both from the inside and outside. The use of a liner for areas not visible from the exterior further showcased the home’s thoughtful approach to materials.
Ceiling and Ventilation:
For the ceiling, a combination of gypsum and PVC was used to maintain a clean, simple, and durable design. The highlight of the ceiling is a fan that blends seamlessly with the PVC structure, creating a premium look without drawing attention to itself.
